Learning Link Africa successfully conducted a specialized training workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of child-care organizations to provide comprehensive, holistic support to the children in their care. The session brought together over 25 dedicated “Mothers” and caregivers from key partner organizations, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to improving child well-being.
The primary objective of the training was to empower these vital caregivers with the knowledge and tools necessary to address the multifaceted educational, emotional, and developmental needs of children under their guardianship. The focus was on ensuring every child receives the individualized support required to thrive.
“Our mission extends beyond academic support; it’s about nurturing the whole child,” said a Learning Link Africa representative. “By equipping ‘Mothers’—the pillars of these children’s daily lives—we create a ripple effect of positive impact, ensuring each child feels supported, resilient, and empowered to reach their full potential.”
The training content was carefully curated to address the core aspects of holistic child development:
-
Introduction to the LearningLink Project: The session began with an overview of the LearningLink Project, detailing its ambitious goals for supporting child development and creating robust learning environments within care structures.
-
Practical Tools for Caregivers: Participants were equipped with practical strategies and resources to better support children’s educational progress, build their emotional resilience, and enhance their social skills. This hands-on component was designed for immediate application in their daily interactions.
-
Best Practices in Nurturing Care: The training shared invaluable insights from successful family- and community-based care models, emphasizing the importance of a stable, loving, and nurturing environment for every child’s healthy growth.
-
Fostering Collaborative Networks: A key outcome of the day was the encouragement of continued collaboration between major care organizations, including the Selamta Family Project, Selam Children’s Village, and SOS Children’s Village. The training served as a dynamic platform for these groups to exchange experiences, challenges, and proven approaches to child-care.
The event was marked by enthusiastic participation and vibrant discussions, with over 25 caregivers engaging in group activities and knowledge-sharing exercises. The participants left the training feeling reinvigorated and better equipped in their crucial roles.
This training marks a significant step in Learning Link Africa’s commitment to building sustainable, community-driven support systems that ensure every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
